Wine

My oenological dream started modestly on 2 small vineyards with few vines from the family estate. In the course of time, this has grown into 42 plots, spread over a total of 6 hectares of land.

The VitiVinicola I Fracc winery was born with great passion in 2009. It is located at 280 meters above sea level on the hills of Monte Carasso in the Bellinzonas region. A limited annual production allows me to follow the entire processing step by step, down to the smallest detail. On my I Fracc estate I produce two types of Merlot. One is the classic DUEttO, which matures in small stainless-steel barrels, and the other is the DUEttO Barrique, which matures for a few months in Swiss oak barrels of the “Terroir Chêne” brand.

The DUEttO Barrique 2014 gold medal in the Merlot category
at the Grand Prix du Vin suisse 2016.

As a reward for my loving and careful work on the vines, the first successes and two awards came. In 2016 my DUEttO Barrique vintage 2014 won the gold medal at the Grand Prix du Vin Suisse. My IDO vintage 2017 won the silver medal at the Grand Prix du Vin Suisse in 2019 as well. These successes are an additional motivation for me to devote all my energy to the care and maintenance of my vines and wines every day.

DUEttO Barrique

Intense and very complex, with notes of red fruit, cherry, sweet spices, vanilla, walnut shell, undergrowth and toasted nuances.

Serving suggestion:
A Merlot that goes well with main courses. It is also recommended with red meat and mature cheese dishes. It is also ideal with a juicy tartar or beef stew.

Fusione Merlot

Description:
Our “fusione” contains the following grape varieties: 70% Merlot – 28% Pinot Noir – 2% Garanoir. This combination comes from an idea of two Vitivinifiers. However, the fusion between Merlot and Pinot Noir was almost accidental. Our “fusione” owes its unique structural strength to the Merlot grapes grown on our well-sunny slopes.

Visually:
purple and clear.

Olfactory:
Intense and rich with notes of berries, coconut, sweet spices, vanilla, cinnamon and light toasted notes.

Taste:
Warm and soft with spicy notes. A well-balanced, deep and finished wine with excellent potential for development and a rich aftertaste of berries, mocha and gingerbread.

Serving suggestion:
A wine that goes well with refined dishes and cheese starters. It also goes perfectly with red meat and all kinds of mature cheese.

IDO

Description:
The IDO – Merlot and Cabernet Franc, is produced with our fine grapes from Bellinzona’s hills.
This blend is traditionally vinified and rests in French oak barrels in our cellar, already created by our dear grandfather Ido in 1934.

Visually:
Deep ruby red, clear and consistent.

Olfactory:
Intense and rich with notes of berries, coconut, sweet spices, cardamom, vanilla, cinnamon and light balsamic notes.

Taste:
Dry, warm and soft, also rich in flavour and balanced freshness. The tannin is pleasant and silky. A ready, balanced and harmonious wine with excellent potential for development and a rich aftertaste of berries and spices.

Serving suggestion:
An excellent wine that goes well with refined dishes. Perfect with red meat, game and mature cheese. It is also ideal with a juicy Ticino kid, a deer salami or Wellington filet.

EccoLo Chardonnay

Description:
The grapes harvested 100% in Ticino are processed into a fine Chardonnay. After the harvest, the grapes are gently pressed.
The grapes then ferment in stainless steel at a controlled temperature for 12 days. Cooled, the Eccolo unfolds a unique drinking experience.

Visually:
Strawberry with golden reflections, crystal clear, shiny and consistent.

Olfactory:
Typical Chardonnay scent reminiscent of exotic fruits like pineapple, mango as well as pear, peach, flowery acacia and minerals.

Taste:
The Eccolo is a dry, rich white wine, with excellent freshness and palatability. Above all, its wonderful balance makes it an extremely pleasant drinking pleasure and convinces every Chardonnay lover. The taste is persistent and harmonious with a wonderfully exotic and slightly citrus aftertaste.

Serving suggestion:
It is excellent as an aperitif, but also ideal with starters, fish starters, white and grilled fish. It is also excellent with prawns in white wine.
